Spring Lunch & Learn Educational Series

Every Monday beginning March 6th, we will be offering a series of donation-based Ayurvedic education classes. Each class will be from 12 noon and 1 pm followed by a light nutritious lunch consisting of our delicious khichadi and aromatic tea.

These classes will cover topics of interest requested by our wonderful friends and clients like yourself. Here is a list of topics we will be offering.
  • March 6th, Planting the seed. In this class, we will each be given a clay pot, soil, and turmeric roots, which we will plant. You will learn more about turmeric and its medicinal value and place in Ayurveda. You will have the opportunity to come and nurture this baby plant as and when you wish. Once the plant matures, in a couple of months, you are welcome to carry it home and plant it in your garden. This class will be taught by Sunita Tarkunde.
  • On March 13th, we will be learning all about our Doshas in an informative class led by Sunita Tarkunde. Do you know what your Dosha is? Come find out! 
  • March 20th, Sunita Tarkunde will gently guide and navigate us through the Spring allergy season and offer some home-based remedies. 
  • March 27th, Pratibha Sachdev will introduce us to the world of Ayurvedic beauty secrets from her grandmother's kitchen. These time-tested rituals and recipes are easy to learn and quick to make. Nurture yourself and let your skin glow! 
  • April 3rd, Suparna Kulkarni will be offering a hands-on class on how to make ghee at home. This simple ingredient is a mainstay in many Ayurvedic recipes and therapies.
  • On April 10th, Ninfa will be offering an informative and practical class on Kundalini Yoga. Come flex your mind and muscles in this peace-promoting class. 
  • On April 17th, Pratibha Sachdev will offer an informative class on Tarot reading. In this interactive class, we will unfold the myth and magic of Tarot cards. 
  • On April 24th, we will be offering an introduction to Reiki. Pratibha Sachdev will introduce you to the basic principles of Reiki and answer your questions. 
  • On May 1st, Ninfa and Pratibha will present to you a world of gemstones. They will share how gemstones have been used through the ages for their therapeutic benefits. 
  • On May 8th, Introduction to Reflexology and Padabhyanga will be offered by Pratibha Sachdev. Bring your questions about this therapeutic modality and learn about the energy/ marma points in your feet. 

Reiki Level 1

A Reiki Level 1 class will be offered by Pratibha Sachdev 
Dates: May 11th and 12th.
Time: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. 
Fee: $250
There will be light refreshments served each day after the class.

We know that our body has innate wisdom, however, if you’ve been feeling out of balance for a long time, this class is for you. This live, interactive Reiki class is for people who are ready to heal themselves, share the healing with others, and return to balance.

Monthly Open House

Starting March 25th, our client and a champion of Ayurveda Yohanna Marshall will be holding an Open House at Houston Ayurveda Center once a month. There will be seasonal finger food, testimonials, fun information, freebies, and a raffle. You, your friends and family will have an opportunity to meet our staff, therapists, and practitioners, our core family.

The open houses will be held on Saturdays March 25th, April 22nd, and May 27th from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Come and meet our Houston Ayurveda Center family! 

A COURSE IN TWO ANCIENT SCIENCES

Recipes for Internal Harmony:
Yoga and Ayurveda

In this online course you will learn from experienced Yoga Teacher Ann Hyde and our own Sunita Tarkunde. They demonstrating how Yoga and Ayurveda are intrinsically woven together and can be utilized to pacify four major health conditions. Each of the 4 sessions in this course is 75 minutes long and starts with a relevant yoga practice taught by Ann followed by an engaging lecture on Ayurveda by Sunita. 

Each session focuses on a specific healthcare topic in the following order:
1) Allergies, 
2) Digestive issues/IBS, 
3) Auto Immune conditions and 
4) Emotions

They chose the word recipe in the course title because it indicates an art in finding the balance within.You will gain a comprehensive understanding, as learning will be cumulative and each session is built upon the information from the earlier ones.
